Found this video where a dog ended up dying at a groomers--it was placed in a drier with the temp too high. Video and info about questions to ask:

That is so sad!! My Mom grooms us. She used to take us to the groomer in the building with our old vets..... a friend of Mom's was picking me up and he saw the girl swat another Mini-Schnauzer with a metal bar on the back legs because she wouldn't stand up!! Well, Mom knew then why I always sat down and wouldn't walk in the door and why I was scared when she tried to brush me!!!! She complained to the vet and he said there was nothing he could do as they rented the space from him, he didn't own the grooming part.....GGGGRRRRRRR!!!!
Mom, found us a really nice vet that even gives me and Jack kisses!!? If I start getting upset when Mom is grooming me she quits and we work on me another day. So sometimes I look funny but Mom loves me and that's all that matters!

That is a really sad story. Our Mommy grooms us also. She may not do as good as a groomer, but she loves us just because we are special little girls, or so she tells us that.
Her daughter took her Husky to a groomer at the vet's office also. When she picked him up, he had a huge raw area down the back of his leg. It was open and had been bleeding. The vet said he didn't know what caused it and he also was not responsible. He gave them antibiotics but made them pay for the medication. Mommy said no more groomers after that.
We like it better when Mommy does us, just like you probably do also. From the pictures we've seen, we think your Mommy does a fantastic job!

Thank you for saying we look good, it makes mom feel better. She had problems learning to do Jack but we think she finally got it figured out. She never nicked him but had trouble getting his hair even along his back.....he was really embarassed looking like chopped liver for awhile!! She never had that problem with me.
You girls always look beautiful, your Mom really knows what she's doing!! It's nice to have Mommie time even if it is with clippers.....she always talks to us and hugs and kisses us, so we really like it!!! Mom's can sure be nice.We hope you've had a great day! We got to, 'hit the hay' Mom's got an early day tomorrow.
